Important notes on Posters, Poster Paired Poetry, Stories and Thoughts.

Age groups and target audience: This blog is for use by adults for self use or as resource for children under their supervision as mentioned below.

This blog is evolving; presently it is mainly an enrichment resource page for parents, teachers, those in the helping profession and for self-use by adult college students enrolled in higher education, and of course for adults in general. The material in this blog could be used to highlight some themes in basic life skills training.

How to use the resource material for supervised and guided discussion:
Posters and poster accompanied poetries: Ideally, the posters are supposed to be understood first, following which the accompanying poems should be read and discussed; thereafter a wholistic synthesis of the poster and poems could take place with examples from daily life. Many of the posters and poems have metaphorical themes and as such must be introduced with supervision by guiding adults.

Guiding and supervising adults are encouraged to be familiar with the contents at all levels (see below) of any creative expressions they will be working on with others, precisely because all levels add up to provide a relatively more wholistic perspective on a topic than would be afforded by one level only.

About the posters: The Posters in this blog could be called personal posters as well for obvious reasons: they address individuals, are inspiring, and could be readily kept in folders and files or used at home as well without occupying extra space.

LEVELS: How to use them. A note for parents, teachers, and supervising adults:

  1. Each Poster, Poetry, Poster Paired Poetry, Short Story, and Thoughts is categorised in levels, as follows: (some “creatives” could be standalones or paired later).
  2. “A” (basic- suggested for students in class/grade/standard 6 and above). Guided use.
“B” ( intermediate- suggested for students in class/grade/standard 8 and above). Guided use, along with level A.
“C” ( advanced- suggested for students in class/grade/standard 11 and above). Guided use along with levels A and B.
“D” (represent deeper understanding of the topic and are for adult students in college and adults who wish to engage more deeply in the topic). Guided/Independent/Self use along with levels A to C.
“E” (represent extra depth to the “D” level readings). Guided/ Independent/ Self-use by adults along with levels A to D.
  3. Each post- be it a poster or a poetry at whatever level could be read independently. Readers at any level above A should read all the thematic posts up to that level on that topic. Also, not all posts will have a corresponding level-wise creative expression.
  4. Next to the title of each poetry in parenthesis is the suggested level of reading, such as “ (C)” followed by “Poster #2”. This pattern will be followed for all creative expressions except for posters.
  5. Also the name of the file and the respective footnote will carry the suggested level and type of creative such as poster, poetry, or story.
  6. However, please note that the minimum grade/standard level suggests that individuals of all groups beyond each category could benefit.

Note: The contents in this blog are not a substitute for the advice of doctors or mental health and wellbeing services provided by professionals. The contents are purely for information, and enrichment purposes.

Some of the posters attempt to promote mental health awareness by addressing the fears, stigma and stereotypes that prevent individuals from reaching out to mental health professionals.

If you or anyone you know needs help of a mental health professional, please contact your local/ national mental help/wellness health line, hospital/ clinic or doctor providing such services.

Individuals in the helping profession are welcome to use these resources as part of additional discussion of topics, or as lead-ins to topics. However, note again that the posts in this blog are not a substitute for services of a doctor or mental health professional.
